A B O U T
Growing up in the surroundings of studio back lots of tinseltown near Los Angeles, California, Katharine Rhee, was destined to become an aspiring filmmaker. As a child, Kat was occupied by the universal babysitter: the television. The discovery of a new world full of visual story telling in the cinematic arts ignited an obsession. Kat's curiosity of wanting to understand what exactly went on behind the scenes of any production led to the fiery passion of desiring to become a producer. Driven by the young age of 13, she first produced her middle school's local news show. Throughout her high school years, due to the lack of film programs, Rhee had studied sitcom writing and producing with US Performing Arts at Pepperdine University and at University of California Los Angeles.
Rhee continued her studies in the Windy City at Columbia College Chicago where she focused on production management. Rhee produced numerous short films with the collaborative efforts from other Columbia filmmakers. While interning on Sassy Pants, Rhee had quickly mastered the art of wardrobe assisted on True Blood. In the summer 2011, Rhee costume designed her first feature Mosquita y Mari.
Rhee has also recently begun a new path, food styling. "I have always had a passion for food, and cooking is my therapy." After receiving an opportunity to learn along side several notable food stylists, Rhee transformed into a culinary buyer as she scours all over the Los Angeles area hunting for fundamental ingredients along with the freshest produce. She has worked on countless commercials. Most recently Rhee was a culinary buyer for Giada de Laurentiis.
